Responsibility towards nature.....

A good way to shake up from the regular work schedule is to take a decent break from work. Entertaining ourselves with movies, games, TV, surfing, hanging out with friends has again been customary for me. But some things not only help you get away from the monotony of life but also give us a different dimension to our persona.
One such recent activity was, a social event held with the team in office, where we went to this beautiful lake of Kasavanahalli with an astonishing sight of birds, greenery, trees, butterflies, dots of colors sprayed by the flowers in the greenery.

We too went green (by wearing green for the event) with dots of colors here and there… :). As we went on to clear up the plastic waste in and around the lake, within half an hour, we could hear people coming back with loads of garbage competing with each other and making feeble remarks of giving prize to the hugest garbage bag formed by the sub teams… Well, that was not in the plan. But something more effortful and useful was yet to follow. We made sure that this physical work could be accomplished by having a fresh cup of beverage with pakoras to heighten the energy level and to continue with the excitement level. As few people were planting the tree saplings in the already dug pits, while some were dripping their sweat off, from their forehead with their spade trying to dig in a pit to plant the sapling. Targets achieved as the team got over with all the saplings brought in to be planted and posing for that final sense of accomplishment into the camera. This was followed by a “Gyan” sharing session by few scholars in the field of environment and ornithology, which made us relax after the hard work plus getting to know different birds and their behavioral pattern, making me realize that humans are so similar, whether it be trying impress the other sex or the husband-wife relationship that they share. Streaks of jokes and the insight into the conversation of trees for the whole ecosystem, took us to a different level of achievement in contributing to the nature. Lunch was like a boon, as everyone eagerly awaited their turns and catching up with the usual talks, hardly guessing it to be work related though. Hogging continued for an hour satisfying ourselves with the basic, but yummy food, as there’s more of fun to follow. The nest building activity took place, which would help birds to find a readymade house. As all the sub teams tried to put in their best foot to make the house as beautiful as possible for the birds to get attracted along with the some carpenter skills applied in building it, while some show the talent of mimicking different birds, making people surprised and smile. As the team gradually showed a drop in the level of energy, well not at all in the excitement level though, nest building activity was followed by pledging to protect the environment. As everyone tried on their M.F.Hussain skills on the chart paper to remember the event, after which the team slowly started dispersing after the event ended.
But for me was it the end? Well it boosted my confidence level and made me more happy for doing something useful, compared to the time and money I spend in watching movies, coffees with friends, unnecessary shopping ( which is only sometimes that I do), seeing TV. Ok, I stop here, as I am now feeling guilty to write the list of useless work that I do :). Let me see now how this stepping stone helps me do something for the nature and take a step further and do my bit, in order to save nature.

First step would be to stop using plastic covers…..
