Whats Happening with the EDUCATION sytem in India???

Nowadays, students have a lot of free time, to keep a track of the changing policies in education, wait for the day to come when these changing decisions will favor them and fulfill their dreams. I guess that is what the government assumes.

First, the whole commotion was created with the reservation of the OBC seats in the reputed institutions of the country and now, Round-N of the drama. There are vacant seats from the OBC quota seats, on which the government is having proceedings to decide on the way to allot these vacant seats.

First of all, is there a need for a proceeding to decide on that? Common sense says that, it has to be redirected to whosoever is eligible for the same. But that doesn’t happen in India! They will take their own sweet time to analyze something which is obvious, arguments follow and then the decision. And of course, please assume it’s not a quick job of three steps in three minutes or three days, it’s almost three months now. Today, that is 15th October, 2008; they announced that the remaining seats will be redirected to General Quota

A student, who has missed his admission by say few decimal points, will surely get admission in other colleges, which also is amongst the reputed colleges of India. Although they would wish to get into the prestigious IIMs, but they compromise for their life and career. What should they do? They don’t have any options. Already the year’s payment has been done, which is huge enough, not to magnetize them to what their dream was which they might get now, due to the vacancy. Though eligible, but they have to compromise with their dreams

Now, my question is why so late to decide on such a trivial issue?

It’s a much known fact, that there is a cut throat competition for these reputed B schools. You have to check only the magic numbers after the decimal, which will make your dream, come true! Government says that they can’t “dilute the level of merit” which they are implementing with a minus of 5% compared to the general candidates. Either there is ignorance of the facts of the entrance exams or there is a dearth of experienced people in the government.

With all these facts and figures, I would like to put my point of view, that government should remove the caste based distinctions in the society all together, or at least as a stepping stone, in the education of India. This is one of the most important reasons, why students prefer studying abroad with a loan of a huge amount than in India, where the policies change every now and then. Also, reservation of the seats should be there, for a developing country, but based on the financial status of the student’s family and not based on his/her caste.
